Hyderabad Set to Witness One of Its Largest Elevated Steel Bridge Projects
Hyderabad is gearing up for a major infrastructure upgrade with the launch of Elevated Corridor–2, a massive road development project estimated at ₹4,263 crore. The ambitious initiative is expected to significantly improve traffic flow, reduce travel time, and enhance overall urban mobility across the northern parts of the city Hyderabad
The proposed elevated corridor will extend for a total length of 18.15 kilometers, connecting key areas of Hyderabad up to Shamirpet. Designed to decongest some of the city’s busiest arterial roads, the corridor will serve as a critical link between residential zones, commercial hubs, and emerging growth corridors Hyderabad
A major highlight of the project is the construction of a 11.52-kilometer-long steel bridge, making it one of the longest steel bridges planned within the Hyderabad metropolitan region. Steel bridge technology has been chosen to ensure faster construction, higher durability, and reduced disruption to traffic during execution. In addition to the elevated structure, the project also includes a 6-kilometer underground tunnel, which will further streamline vehicular movement in high-density zones.

According to officials, all key preparatory steps such as land acquisition and tendering have already been completed, paving the way for construction to begin soon. The project will be executed in phases to minimize inconvenience to commuters and nearby residents.
In the first phase, a 2.6-kilometer elevated steel bridge up to VST will be constructed. This stretch is expected to deliver immediate relief to commuters by easing congestion at critical junctions that currently witness heavy traffic during peak hours. Once operational, this phase alone is likely to reduce travel time significantly for daily commuters and commercial transport vehicles.
Urban planners believe that the elevated corridor will not only improve traffic efficiency but also support future urban expansion. With rapid growth in residential developments, IT parks, educational institutions, and industrial zones in and around northern Hyderabad, the new corridor will play a crucial role in sustaining long-term mobility needs Hyderabad.
The project is also aligned with the Telangana government’s broader vision of strengthening urban infrastructure and promoting planned development. By integrating elevated roads, steel bridges, and underground tunnels, the corridor represents a modern, multi-layered approach to city traffic management.
Once completed, Elevated Corridor–2 is expected to transform travel across Hyderabad, offering faster, safer, and more reliable connectivity. For residents, businesses, and investors alike, the project marks a significant step toward building a more efficient and future-ready urban transport network Hyderabad
