Telangana Records Massive Growth in Exports Telangana is rapidly progressing in the exports sector. Over the past few years, the state government has introduced key reforms in the services sector and implemented special measures to promote exports. According to the 2024–25 Services Export Promotion Index released under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Telangana climbed from 5th place to 3rd place in the country. This achievement has become a strong indicator of the state’s economic growth.

During the financial year 2023–24, the total export value from Telangana stood at 14,026 million dollars. In 2024–25, this increased significantly to 19,123 million dollars. Achieving nearly 36% growth within just one year is considered remarkable. Experts believe that Telangana securing a strong position in the services sector reflects the rapid development of industries in the state.
Pharma and IT Sectors Lead the Growth
Officials stated that the IT and pharmaceutical sectors are the primary reasons behind this success. IT-driven services exports, pharmaceutical industries, and medical equipment manufacturing are playing a major role in the state’s economic progress.
Hyderabad has emerged as a major hub for international companies, attracting foreign investments and boosting exports. The growth in IT services exports during 2024–25 has been particularly significant, while the pharmaceutical sector has expanded its influence in global markets. Hyderabad is also gaining recognition as a leading center for biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, research, and development.
Strong Performance in the Services Sector
Across the country, the services sector continues to remain dominant. Reports indicate that service exports have grown by nearly 70% since 2017–18. In 2024–25, service exports worth 1,16,332 million dollars were recorded nationally. Business services, consultancy, IT services, and Global Capability Centers (GCCs) played a key role in this growth.
In 2022–23, service exports were valued at around 1.46 lakh crore rupees, and this growth continued strongly into 2024–25. Telangana-based IT companies, startups, and pharmaceutical firms are significantly contributing to the state’s economy.
Experts believe Telangana has strong potential to move even further ahead in the service exports sector in the coming years.
